Parking

Free parking is available to all Conference attendees in the
Northwest Lot
of the Alliant Energy Center on Thursday, October 30 & Friday, October 31.

In order to park for free at Alliant Energy Center, you must print the Parking Permit (pdf) before
arriving and display it in your front windshield while you park in the Northwest Lot.

To reach the Northwest Lot, enter at the "Main Gate" on Rimrock Road and follow the signs. Then take the free shuttle (provided by Lamers) to Monona Terrace, just a mile away. Shuttle bus service begins at 7:30 am on October 30 & 31.

The Alliant Energy Center will also be the off-site parking location for those attending the WEAC convention on October 30 & 31. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to get parked and onto the shuttles on Thursday and Friday mornings so you don't miss your favorite session or performance.


Another option is to park at your hotel.  Most are just a short walk from Monona Terrace.  If you're staying at the Sheraton Madison, free hotel shuttles are also available upon request.


City of Madison parking is available at Monona Terrace and at several parking ramps close by for a charge.  Click here to view current City of Madison parking rates.

 

Shuttles

Free shuttle buses, provided by Lamers, will travel between the parking lot of Alliant Energy Center, Monona Terrace and conference hotels approximately every 30 minutes, beginning at 7:30 am on both Thursday and Friday, October 30 and 31.

On Thursday, October 30, the free Lamers shuttles will offer express service between Monona Terrace and Overture Hall, beginning one hour prior to each of the WSMA High School State Honors concerts. Shuttles will return riders to the Alliant Energy Center and conference hotels after the concerts. Seating is limited.

Thursday, October 30, 2008
7:30 am – 3:30 pm Continuous shuttle between Alliant Energy Center*, Sheraton Madison, Clarion Suites, Monona Terrace, The Madison Concourse Hotel, and Best Western Inn on the Park.  Two shuttles run a continuous 30-minute loop.
3:30 pm – 4:30 pm 

WSMA High School State Honors Concert Shuttle Service (concert begins at 4:30 pm).  Continuous shuttles between Monona Terrace and Overture Center.  First bus departs from Monona Terrace at 3:30 pm.

4:30 pm – 5:45 pm Continuous shuttle between Alliant Energy Center*, Sheraton Madison, Clarion Suites, Monona Terrace, The Madison Concourse Hotel, and Best Western Inn on the Park.  Two shuttles run a continuous 30-minute loop.
5:45 pm – 6:30 pm Shuttle from Overture Center to Monona Terrace, Alliant Energy Center*, Sheraton Madison, Clarion Suites, The Madison Concourse Hotel, and Best Western Inn on the Park.  Two shuttles run a continuous 30-minute loop.
7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

WSMA High School State Honors Concert Shuttle Service (concert begins at 8:00 pm).  Continuous shuttles between Monona Terrace and Overture Center.  First bus departs from Monona Terrace at 7:1 pm.

8:00 pm – 10:00 pm No Shuttles
10:00 pm – 10:45 pm Shuttle from Overture Center to Madison Hilton, Alliant Energy Center*, Sheraton Madison, Clarion Suites, The Madison Concourse Hotel, and Best Western Inn on the Park.  Two shuttles run a 45-minute loop.
Friday, October 31, 2008
7:30 am – 5:00 pm Continuous shuttle between Alliant Energy Center*, Sheraton Madison, Clarion Suites, Monona Terrace, The Madison Concourse Hotel, and Best Western Inn on the Park.  Two shuttles run a continuous 30-minute loop.

Checking In at Monona Terrace

The Registration Area is located in the Grand Terrace of Monona Terrace Convention Center.  Follow the signs once you enter Monona Terrace on the 4th level.  Attendees who have pre-registered can pick up their materials at the Pre-Paid Registration booth.  Other attendees should register at the On-Site Registration booth.

You will receive your conference nametag during check in.  Your official conference nametag admits you to all 2008 Wisconsin State Music Conference sessions, exhibits and concerts held within the Monona Terrace.  Be sure you have it with you at all times.  Your nametag is not valid for WSMA HIgh School State Honors Band & Orchestra, WSMA High School State Honors Treble Choir & Mixed Choir and the WSMA Middle Level State Honors Concert - you must purchase tickets for these Honors concerts.

 

Food Services & Restaurants

Food service is available in Monona Terrace at these locations:

Thursday & Friday (October 30 & 31)

  • Grand View Cafe - Coffee, cold beverages, pastries, sandwiches, salads and soup.  Open at 7:00 am.
  • Concession stands in Exhibit Hall.  Open at 8:30 am.

The Hilton Madison Hotel offers continental and full breakfast at the Olive, Thursday and Friday from 6:30 am - 11:00 am and weekend brunch from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm.
The Capitol Chophouse restaurant, located in the Hilton Madison Hotel, serves lunch and dinner.

Madison offers a wide variety of restaurants all within walking distance to Monona Terrace.  The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau offers detailed information about these many options.

 

Ride Share/Room Share Back to top

Save gas and money while networking with your colleagues. WMEA is providing a Ride-Share/Room-Share Bulletin Board as a courtesy to assist conference attendees with making arrangements. Participants assume full responsibility for all arrangements and circumstances that may arise from them.

 

Technology Lab Back to top

Visit the hands-on technology lab that will include many of the newest and most effective software programs for classroom use. The lab, located on the main exhibit floor, will consist of demonstrations and open time for educators to explore at their own pace and on their own time.

Exhibits Back to top

The exhibit portion of this year's conference will again make use of expanded space to accommodate demand!  All commercial exhibits will be in the main exhibit hall on the first floor, while many colleges, universities and charitable organizations will be located in both the main exhibit hall and near the registration area in the Capitol Promenade on the fourth floor of Monona Terrace.
