Next Direction for Band will bring together outstanding high school students from across Wisconsin who share an interest in learning more about what is involved in entering a music career, specifically in band. Students will work in a band rehearsal setting with nationally known master director Quincy Hilliard and gain valuable experience through exploration:
- Discover the "why" behind rehearsal procedures
- Learn about the skills necessary to become a successful musician and music educator
- Try out those skills in small group sessions and rehearsals
- Talk to university music education students
- Participate in mini-sessions with quality Wisconsin directors
Next Direction for Band is a new opportunity sponsored by Wisconsin Music Educators Association, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association NextDirection for choral students.
