Event Description:The EXCEL Center at UW Oshkosh was created to streamline the process of getting an add-on license for practicing teachers in math and science on an emergency license. Now the EXCEL center has added choral, general, and instrumental music licensure. The EXCEL Center will evaluate the teacher's transcripts and prior professional experience to create an individualized program that is based on the DPI competencies rather than courses and credits. Event Description:Music Learning Theory is an explanation of how we learn music and what a student needs to know as a readiness to learn.

The practical application of Music Learning Theory include: 1) how to teach using the three stage approach to music learning, 2) learning a repertoire of songs in a variety of tonalities and meters, 3) creating classroom activities for the different skill levels of learning, and 4) movement instruction to enhance music learning.

Event Description:This course will prepare students to use the materials and procedures that are part of the Orff Schulwerk instructional model in classrooms and other educational settings. Students will become familiarized with the active, experience-based learning model. Orff Schulwerk teacher training courses consist of 3 components: the experiential, the conceptual, and the pedagogical. Each is developed parallel to and interrelated with other two. The main thrust of experiential learning is established at Level 1.
