MENC is an integral part of the St. Norbert campus and music department. We currently have 37 members participating in the many activities that MENC hosts. The St. Norbert College chapter of MENC ushers for all music events, raises money for the State Music Convention through bake sales, car washes, and participating in Younkers Community Days. One of our biggest events is our annual silent auction. Each year, we sponsor a needy music classroom in the area and donate all proceeds from the silent auction to that classroom; they in turn can purchase much needed music or classroom supplies. Members of MENC solicit businesses to get donations for the silent auction. Then, at the Festival of Christmas Concert, (sponsored by the St. Norbert College music department), we have all these items available for bidding. In 2006, we raised $1770.00. This year, we raised about $700.00 and donated the money to Fort Howard Elementary in Green Bay. Our chapter of MENC also hosts student recitals for college students’ private lesson students. This enables these young musicians to experience performing and they get to perform in our auditorium, which they really enjoy!
