Committee Duties

CMENC Representative

The CMENC Representative to the WMEA Council is appointed by the WMEA President.  This position has duties to both the State CMENC Steering Committee and the WMEA Council. 

Duties as a part of the WMEA Council:

For each of the areas of music and education which they represent, it shall be the duty of State Chairs to initiate projects, communication, resources, or professional development so as to generally promote and recognize that area.  The Council may also, through the President-Elect, make proposals to the Executive Board regarding the business of the corporation and the financial or other resources needed to carry out their duties.  Council members shall be encouraged to provide information for use in the magazine or other publications of the corporation.  Other responsibilities of the State chairs shall include:

  • Provide an article for four issues of the Wisconsin School Musician.
  • Follow through on all communication received from MENC related to State Chair position.
  • Maintain a log of Association Activities.
  • Maintain a file of correspondence, materials and articles related to Association Responsibilities.
  • Establish or provide a means of feedback on specific issues related to Council position.
  • Attend and assist at Association meetings and major events.
  • Meet with successor to pass on materials and information.

CMENC Representatives’ duties as a part of the Steering Committee:

  • Preside over meetings of the Steering Committee.
  • Prepare minutes of every meeting and distribute to members no later than three weeks after the meeting is held.
  • Communicate any corrections that need to be made to the minutes and apply the corrections to a final copy of the minutes.
  • Provide a final copy of the minutes to the Historian to keep on file.
  • Contact speakers for the Wisconsin State Music Conference CMENC session and other speakers that need to be contacted for events such as the mini-conference, etc.
  • Send thank-you letters to all guest speakers of Collegiate Council events.
  • Fill out necessary forms for State Conference sessions, which will be sent by the state office.
  • Provide a report at the end of term describing the activities for the year.  This report should be given to the Historian, the State CMENC Advisor, and the WMEA President.
