2005 Wisconsin State Music Conference Right on Target! |

Those attending this year's Wisconsin State Music Conference
were provided abundant materials and sessions addressing the
theme "Music: The Center of Education." Our keynote speaker
and one of the most gifted musicians of our time, Lorin
Hollander, delivered the most succinct statement on this topic.

WMEA Distinguished Service Awards |

WMEA proudly recognized the 2005 Distiguished Service Award
recipients at the Wisconsin State Music Conference General
Session in October. The following awards were given:
Richard G. Gaarder Award, Distinguished Administrator Award,
Michael G. George Award and Community Service
Awards.

Mark your calendar for the 2006 State Music Conference
Planning Session -- January 7, 2006, 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.,
Chula Vista
Resort in Wisconsin Dells!
All WMEA members are invited to join with other music
educators from around the state at this special planning
session.
This is your chance to be involved. Your help is needed:
- Identifying topics and presenters.
- Refining and prioritizing workshop sessions.
- Suggesting special guests and events.

Wisconsin Award for Excellence in Teaching Music |

Deadline - December 15
The Wisconsin School Music Association and Wisconsin Music
Educators Association are proud to offer another great way to
recognize professional educators who inspire students with
their own passion for music. Details can be found in the
nomination packet. Nomination forms are due December
15, 2005. The recipient(s) of the Wisconsin Award for
Excellence in Teaching Music will be announced in April 2006.

several professional development workshops this winter with
graduate credit available. Be sure to read on for more
information about many great opportunities, such as:
Technique and Pedagogy Workshop Series (begins January
28), Writing a
Professional Development Plan for a PI 34 License (begins
January 14), General
Music Workshop (February 24) and more! You can also

Position Opening: Continuing Education Director |

Wisconsin Center for Music Education
Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) has just announced
a new position opening for Continuing Education Director of the
Wisconsin Center for Music Education. The Continuing Education
Director will be responsible for developing and implementing
programming for educators, adults and students to be offered
at the Center. Application deadline is January 17, 2006.
