WMEA is now scheduling volunteers to preside at Conference
sessions. The volunteer presider has the honor of introducing
the session presenter and/or performing group and making
sure that the presenter's and/or conductor's needs are met
during the session.
Everyone is welcome to volunteer. If you are interested in
serving as a volunteer presider, please contact WMEA and include the following
information:
- Available dates and times (example, Thursday morning or
Friday afternoon).
- Areas of interest (example, early childhood music, band,
orchestra, choir or general music).
- If you are interested in presiding at workshops,
performances or both.
You may also print, complete and submit the Presider Availability Form (.pdf) to our office. Please send all email responses or availability
forms by Thursday, September 8, 2005.

National Anthem Project: Sept. 14 Sing-Along |
|
|
|
|
Add your voice on September 14 (9 a.m. local time) when
schools and communities across the nation will sing "The Star-
Spangled Banner" to celebrate the anniversary of our national
anthem. Governor Doyle has signed a proclamation (.pdf) officially declaring September 14, 2005 National Anthem
Project Day to celebrate the history of the anthem and urge all
music educators and residents of Wisconsin to participate in
this project. Invite your local teachers, parents, schools and
community leaders to join in singing this song together. Plan an
event to showcase the important role music teachers play in
passing our American heritage from one generation to the next.
Materials are available to help you participate and get media coverage for your
event.
