Feature Article
by Jim Scheuer   "Perfection is our goal. Excellence will be tolerated."
The title of this article has been on the bulletin board in my band room for years. It's a slightly humorous take on a philosophy that motivates me and seems to strike a chord with most students. I have learned from many outstanding teachers and mentors, all of who left their mark on my life and my teaching, but somehow I always come back to the words of Vince Lombardi.
Feature Interview - Lowell Graham
by Monte Dunnum

In this special interview, Col. Lowell Graham, United States Air Force retired, shares his insightful perspectives about world music in education.

Service Award Nominations
Reminder - Deadline is May 12!
Recognizing people who make a difference is one of the most rewarding activities for any organization. WMEA sponsors several awards to recognize people who have sustained a commitment to music education and made a positive impact in the school, community or state. As a member, you are invited to nominate such a person for one of these awards:

  • Community Service Award
  • Distinguished Administrator Award
  • Distinguished School Board Member Award
  • Michael G. George Distinguished Service Award

Nominations for each of these awards will be screened after the May 12 deadline. Awards will be presented by the WMEA president during the Wisconsin State Music Conference keynote session in Madison this October.
