One Foot In – One Foot Out
A Reflection on Opportunities for Music
Involvement after Retirement.
This article is about a lot of things. Mostly it is
about being simultaneously retired and non-retired in
a lifelong career in music. (Hence the title: “One
Foot In – One Foot Out.”) It is about the
wonderful things that can and do happen if one remains
active and open within a career field and life in general.
It is about enjoying life to its fullest, continuing
to grow all the time, and much more. I have been privileged
to have met, worked with, and studied with some of the
greatest teachers and musicians in the world during
my career. Some of the most exhilarating and memorable
experiences in my life, however, have come from the
students I have worked with during all those years.
