Establishes Comprehensive Musicianship Project |
A group of visionary Iowa music educators, with the assistance
of Wisconsin CMP Project members, has formed the first Iowa Comprehensive
Musicianship Project (ICMP). Modeled after the Wisconsin Project,
the ICMP team studied and worked with the Wisconsin CMP staff to
develop a deeper understanding of the CMP model. After five years
of planning, Iowa presented its first summer workshop for an enthusiastic
group of Iowa music educators in June 2004, on the campus of Drake
University. The ICMP included general music in its teaching model,
an innovation that Wisconsin CMP will adopt. Enthusiasm for CMP
is high in Iowa, and the potential for partnerships between Wisconsin
and Iowa CMP teachers is exciting. Congratulation Iowa!
