Summer Workshop 2010 Announced

The 2010 CMP Workshop is set to take place June 21-25 at Edgewood College in Madison, WI.

The workshops are prepared by music teachers for band, chorus, general music, orchestra, and studio teachers.  Prepared by music teachers for music teachers! The CMP Summer Workshop has something to offer to every music teacher, whether you are interested in attending for the first time or are a returning teacher looking to dig deeper into the process of CMP. Regardless of the area you teach: band, chorus, orchestra, general music or private studio students. The CMP Summer Workshop is the place for you to be this June!

Are you interested in learning about the CMP Process for the first time?
If this is your first experience with CMP, you will have the time and support during the workshop to explore the tools necessary to teach comprehensive musicianship to your students. The summer workshop offers first-time attendees the chance to get involved in special presentations, small-group discussions and demonstration rehearsals and classes.

Are you interested in attending the CMP Workshop again?
For teachers who have some background in CMP or have attended a CMP Summer Workshop previously, returning to the summer workshop offers more challenging and in-depth experiences with other workshop veterans as you explore the CMP model for the second or third time.

Teachers who have completed a CMP Summer Workshop previously can take their newly learned skills a step further and spend the week creating an outcome that will arch over two or more pieces. Returning attendees will also participate in special-interest presentations and demonstration rehearsals and classes, while still meeting separately for more in-depth study sessions. Long range CMP planning will include lessons in:

• Grouping pieces together as units of study
• Intensifying your score analysis
• Writing long-range outcomes
• Connecting to other art forms and disciplines
• Assessing student learning using a variety of tools

And for studio teachers?
Cornelia Watkins, author of "Rosindust" and a CMP Committee member, will again lead a one-day, intensive workshop exclusively for studio teachers. This one-day workshop offers studio teachers the opportunity to:

• Acquire new insights and ideas
• Discover your best teaching methods
• Plan inspired lessons for your students
• Find a new lease on your teaching life
