| Q. |
I am having difficulty recognizing the difference
between outcomes and strategies. What are the differences? |
| A. |
Outcomes are the goals or objectives you hope
to accomplish. Outcomes may be standards, curriculum objectives,
or items that the music has to offer. Strategies are the activities
that help you and your students achieve your outcomes. These
may be one of the many musicianly roles such as analyzing, composing,
evaluating, listening, playing or singing. |

| Q. |
I'm having difficulty determining the "heart"
of a particular piece of music. Any suggestions? |
| A. |
Look to a specific element of music that stands
out as being most important. Sometimes quality music will have
two or three elements that stand out. It is necessary to determine
the most important element. By focusing on an element of music,
you will be able to determine the best outcome with more ease. |

|
| Q. |
What is a simple way to assess affective outcomes? |
| A. |
One simple way to assess affective outcomes is
to have students reflect and write about specific affective
issues found within the music using correct music vocabulary.

| Q. |
Is there a place to view CMP plans created
by the CMP committee or by other workshop participants? |
| A. |
While most committee and workshop participants
would be willing to share their work with you, there is no public
domain of CMP plans. However, feel free to contact any one of
the committee members for suggestions, or network with colleagues
you have met at a previous workshop. The CMP committee will
also be addressing this issue by include several model CMP teaching
plans in a future book. |

| Q. |
How can I get my colleagues in our district
to get excited about CMP? |
| A. |
Share upcoming workshop information with your
colleagues and invite them to the next workshop. Take them to
a CMP committee member's session at the next WMEA Fall Conference.
Staff development opportunities are available for educational
seminars, conventions, and staff in-services. To schedule a
CMP seminar, contact a committee member or the WSMA/WMEA office. |
